This is a great idea for hetero as well as LGBTQ kids. I have very bright young children who only suffer from a school system that struggles to meet their relatively advanced academic needs. Although still quite young, they are fluent on the internet and could benefit a great deal from a school like this. I'd love to see if they could get into this school given their advanced levels of achievement and slowness of their school district to provide advanced academic activities.

Great Idea! It is a step above Home Schooling. In the future study groups will form. It is also in line with the future of on line colleges.

Thank you for this important article. Also Please remember the top Ivy in the country whose arms are wide open for LGBTI is Princeton University. The campus is beautiful and the location is wonderful and they were voted top LGBTI (transgender living). The admission office is very liberal and gay friendly. The President of the University has spoken about the importance of the gay community to the university. Many gay pride awards recognized Princeton University. So there is a home within the Ivy League for Lesbian, Gay, Bi sexual, Transgender and Indeterminate.

While I do admit that there are some real problems facing lgbt students, this is definately not a way to solve it or even help it. I agree that being in a regular high school setting is essential. I was oplenly gay in high school, and while I may not have face some of the harsh things that happened to some of the other gay students in my school, it helped me alot. I faced and dealt with people who didn't like me for being gay, but it gave me a chance to deal with it while I was young and helps me deal with those people now, rather than not dealing with them at all. However, if online school is what some people prefer then thats their choice. I personally would never ever in a million years recommend online school to anybody I know.

Who wouldn't have rather "Just stayed home" and in their closset. HS is still an important developmental enviorment developing in cyberspace isnt going to help society come to grips with its diversity. In less we plan to exist in a bubble we have to learn to co-exist If we do this - we're (in effect) letting them ship us off to a island. We have made several amazing closet opening strives forward... Don't pull the door closed as we all know its damn hard to open

Kids tease kids. Period. Why not have a separate school for kids of all fringe groups subjected to teasing? Head gear? Special school for that. Four eyes? Special school for that. Stuttering? Obese? KMart clothes? Big forehead? Buck teeth? Pimples? You get where I'm going here.

Having a separate school for anyone is absurd. The very premise is false. Just because someone is gay doesn't mean he/she is tolerant or accepting. So now what are you going to do with the gay supremacist? (Yes, it does happen.) The whole presumption that a kid will be more accepting just because he/she is gay is ridiculous. I've met plenty gays who "hated" blacks, whites, Mexicans, you name it.

So you got teased in school... Welcome to the club! Political correctness can't be a permanent buffer for those who can't handle the real world.

Online Schools is a really good idea right now. Especially in current economic conditions. We own a resume branding & building site, and we surveyed a good amount of our users. Apparently, consumers who get an online degree are earning on average 22% more on their salary / hourly rate than before.

I would recommend getting on online degree if you do not have a degree. At resumebucket.com we have the ability for our users to search for schools & colleges. Check it out; Http://www.resumebucket.com/collegesearch
