Good school going on there

On average they spend about the same amount of time. It is time that the USA competes a little bit more with other year round schools in other countries. It is easier for parents and for kids who have trouble in school. They still have breaks and can go outside and have fun they are just learning more. What is the harm with that?

Year round school is a great and better way for us to learn. As a High School Student I would love to have Year Round School. It helps prepare us for collage. Plus in regular schools we have long summer breaks and we forget half of the stuff we learned the prior year.If we had year round school we would learn more, and forget less. Also since our society is based on technology instead of agriculture now, parents have to work more, which means having to find babysitters or day care for younger children in the long summer months. If we had year round schools we would get home a little bit before our parents or even at the same time. Parents would have a more put togethor schedule for the children.I know that their are some faults to year round school.Just think about it we would have more frequent breaks!

If you have all year school... would you graduate earlier if ur breaks are shorter??? When would you switch from grade to grade, like from 8th grade to 9th???? What would the schedule be? would the days be shorter, longer, or the same length??? If a school switches to all year schooling... would it help students have better focus by not having summer vacation and having school??? If you can answer these questions.... if your school has this... can you help me answer these questions??? PLEASE

The U.S. is a nation known best for opportunities avalilable to its citizens. But when it comes to education...its not that hard to believe it is lacking reconization. Believe it or not, i am a Senior in High School...and i duel on more school. A Year-Round education calendar is just right because not only will it prepare students for college in a better way, but also students will benefit more on not forgetting what they have learned throughout the years. This act will increase job opportunities for graduated students who just just finish high school. and also, i believe it will be possible that the American kids will be able to compete against Asia and its borders because they are currently on a Year-Round program.

Even though the U.S.A is strong in competing against other countries...one of the things it should consider is competing through education also.

The questions are: Is it fair for some and not all?

The schols are The Chicago Public Schools? Equal Right for all!

I was slower than some, faster than others but we all had Summer and other breaks at the same time. The world doesn't need everyone to be a scientist, astronomer, doctor, lawyer. Can you imagine what this world would really smell and look like. I believe in education but also believe if the children learn to obey the rules of school, their teachers and come to school and be on time they will know what they want to do when they are older. I don't think the year round school will make a difference in the children learning ability.

I am a Chicago public school crossing guard. Starting Sept. we understand there will be a school tested in our area. The union nor the police have any info regarding this school. Why are the guards left in the dark. How successful was last year's test in other areas. Certainly the Union should have sent out information on this subject before Sept as it certainly does affect the Guards By-Laws.

I just don't understand why the schools are divided. It always open the door to unfairness or prejudice. Looking at the year round schools it seems to be the Blacks and other Minority groups schools are targeted for more days off from school.Regular school year schools have less days off from school. The whole purpose is to be equal. Regular School days off 57, Track A.91, B.88, C.72,D.92, E.105.

Traditionally, year around schools have as many school days as a traditional or agrarian calendar school year, the breaks are just split up in different ways. And in Chicago, wouldn't it be nice to have some vacation time when it's not blistering hot outside?

Also, while school districts say that teachers have a 180 day school year, and 7 hour days, any one who has ever taught knows that vacations, days off, and summer breaks are spent working as well, and typical teachers put in between 10 and twelve hours a day. It would be nice to see people informs themselves a little bit before spouting off about their uninformed assumptions. Yes, that means you.
