WE have done just what they thought we were going to do reach out and kill one another , what a price to pay just to be innocent on the streets of our communities . What haterade we must have for anther human being ? what a sad place to be in your mind ? what a sickness we have to just end another childs life who wanted more the right way than u wanted the wrong way. Mothers this is the time to stand up and be counted because we r doing the same thing in SD , CALI . MARVIN GAY once asked the ? WHATS GOING ON? and today we should have an answer . Enough is enough THE streets are all of ours and the price of freedom is still getting involved with that which is just and right . There is no such thing as snitching it is another ghetto word for turn your head so i can do what i want . We need to change the thought proces in our communities and change the people and the attitude. PEOPLE get ready there is a revolution coming so rise up for justice and that which is right , too many of our people has tought us rightness and died for what we have today , so is this how we honor our for mothers and fathers? TODAY MOTHERS and FATHERS the tears and pain can stop.

Yeah you are right about having a locker check once a week but really, do you think they are going to do it? I agree that parents have a fault in it too. Schools are there to teach educational perposes and not ways of life or how your personality and character should be. If parents notice a change in their children then they should care enough to investigate, talk to them. Sometimes there is no talking and there is no chance especially in the streets of Chicago where gang violence is taking over more rapidly. We just have to try harder.

In the cities like LA and Chicago, when is it an option to call in the National Guard as it was used during the MLK riots?

I was a youngster on Chicago's Westside, my first introduction to gangs was when in third grade at recess one room 232 was the Vice-Lords and room 233 was the Cobras. Our outside activites was to run at each other and fight and then run away just like the big boys, because this was the education of the street where you had to live and matriculate. The so called Midget Cobras versus the Midget Vicelords everyday at recess in the third grade. Okay Holland was the school and the leader of the Vicelords was a brother named Washington, this information is what kept the buzz in school going. This is education of the environment and nothign a teacher could do could dispel this information sooo why listen to the teachers. This problem moved to the southside with the main two gangs still holding court and the added Latin section and subsections. I never will say nothign bad about the gangs because they had order and proved that parents were not in control there is no difference now. The buzz is still who got hurt and why, and will there be any retaliation. Change is reality schools are the breeding ground for inner-city order and that order is the gangs, not parents, not police and definitely not the teacher. Give it up or get it on educating the child is to keep them safe but also keep the buzz on the future. Our fgoals may be the same but if we are in charge don't look to IRAQ or Afgahnistan look to the Inner city neighborhoods and send the troops for the future is here in our own Weapons of Fast Destruction, Gangacide.

My 16 year old Aunt lives in chicago and im afraid she will get shot from other teens out there. I think there should be a locker check at schools every week to look for guns or weapons, not only chicago but every school. Some parents say that parents should be responsable for students shooting. Sometimes I agree because parents teach the kids right from wrong.

Chicago Public Schools has a Virtual Charter School. My grandson is enrolled as a kindergartner. They started a few years ago and each year they have added grades. This year enrollment is for K-11. This is free for those living in Chicago city limits. You are provided a computer, internet service, teachers as a resource, a center for the students to attend one day a week for group instruction and field trips. It has been working very well for my daughter to receive the support she needs to homeschool.

Chicago has refused to do anything about a rampant gang problem for awhile now and this is the result. These shootings aren't taking place in the schools, but in most of these cases in the early morning hours at a known gang hangout and in most of the cases the shooter did not know the victim. These shootings aren't taking place when calculus tutoring gets out of hand. Chicago likes to label these problems as CPS deaths to shield themselves from citicism and the media goes along with it because CPS student murder sounds a lot sexier than gang shooting.

As a mother of a murdered child, I feel that we should hold parents responsible for their children behavior. Children that kill are not born killers they develop into killer kids over time. Unfortunately, my son was in the company of a kid with a parent that was out of touch with her troubled kid. Stop making excuses and put parents(foster parents, grandparents etc.) first and we will see a difference in our children. The answer is less police enforcement and more responsible parent.
