Please do your best to fight back for a Christian growth group in the school. God is not pleased with us if we sit bak and just let it happen. I will be praying foe Lord's intervention. God still reighns

I am just curious with the gay tolerance in shcools. Has anyone ever stopped to consider what our Maker says on the subject? I hear a lot about the kids feelings but what about the Lord's feelings? Harrasment and violence are not the answers but neither is condining the homosexual act either.

God sees these acts as abominations, men see them as just different or alternative lifestyles. The cities of Sodom and Gomorrah serves as an example of God's take on the matter (2 Pet. 2:6-9). And if we condone the act we deserve to die as well (Rm. 1:32). The bible reads "Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10 nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God" (1 Cor. 6:9,10 NASU).

Tolerance nor violence is the answer. God is the answer and without His direction there will be no peace.

I am a person who use to go to a undisclosed High school in Tunnelhill,GA and our glbt group was only a hush-hush kind of group to help us also cope with all the threts from the jocks, preps, etc. they use to throw all kinds of stuff at us and the teachers did not do anything. this was an all day everyday event that eventually made me drop out of school and find other means of education. All of us (our group) went to the principal to speak about the situation.we were all very scared to be out in the open like that but we had no choice this time, but we all went. The principal told us,"It's your choice to 'choose'such a controversal means of lifestyle and if you want to be in the open you have to deal with the consequences, you'll have to do that in life anyway." Of course ,with threat of lawsuit, the principal did move those people to the other side of the cafeteria but that did not solve the problem. This is why gay, bisexual, lesbian teen agers need a group like this in every school. To both help others that no matter who you date in your PERSONAL LIFE is YOUR business and not other peoples that discriminating aganst someone that does something that is aganst their beliefs is wrong, and the group will help teach gays that we don't and should not flaunt to the world that we are gay...sure be yourself but be considerate to the others around you.maby they don't want to see us holding hands, maby it offends them. These programs will help people like me who droped out of school for the wrong reasons just of fear of going to school. So support these groups.

I rarely comment on articles, but I was so blown away by the insanity of "Well-Duh" I felt obligated to respond.

GSA organizations promote tolerance. As Carol pointed out, they foster discussion and acceptance among peers. A "sex study club"? Really? Perhaps you should attend a meeting yourself -- you're the epitome of why these organizations need to exist.

Also, I'd advise you to read the Constitution before attempting to reference it again. Which article addresses reproductive rights? And how is the right to vote even tangentially related this discussion?

Seriously though, limit your asinine comments to whatever local hate group you belong to and spare the rest of the literate population.

Oh, and UCLA is a university in California.

As a GSA faculty sponsor in a public high school ( and a married mother and grandmother), I would like to refute the comments of those who have little experience with GLBT teens. Bullying and harrassment as well as just plain "teasing" are a daily occurrence for these teens. It is difficult to handle this on your own, and also illegal, unfair, and downright mean. GSA's foster a spirit of acceptance and openness in a school, providing a means for gay and straight students to discuss the issues, promote acceptance of students who may not be accepted, and provide an outlet for dealing with harrassment. These groups are very important, and should be allowed by all schools.
