If you have to do it, you might as well do it right.

I would like to know why we are going to spend 613 billion on Special ED. that is what the IDEA is. Why dont we spend more money on the regular kids that are usually getting short changed in education.

People need to understand that the amount of money spent per child per state can be misleading. In states like California and other border towns children of illegal immigrants are using services and in some cases (not all) the parents are sending their money South- not paying taxes- the tax payer makes up the difference which can bog down the system. Also local schools are funded through local property taxes- in a state where there is an astronomical foreclosure rate, a lot of federal undeveloped land or both- the amount spent per pupil goes down as well. I think education deserves a bail out before auto makers and bankers do! It is the future of America that is getting left behind. That seems like a pretty poor business plan-

When students fail, parents need to pay for repeating the grade or class. Wages could be attached, as in child support.

When did the Federal Government become responsible for LOCAL schools? Is it just such large sums of money blinding us all, or do we want to abdicate our duty to our kids and our community to the Federal Government. Do you want a bureaucrat somewhere deciding what is best for your child?

Teacher pay and hiring and firing, buildings, tests, babysitting before Kindergarten, day care after school, free food before school, at lunch and then again after school?

What happened to local control over schools? I know we are now living in a brave new world order, but why in the world do you all think that what works in Chicago should work in Baton Rouge? You are ceding parental control to the Federal Government. Wasn't no child left behind BAD ENOUGH?

We will be having one data base for our kids from birth to 12th and then pass them seamlessly to the new national database on health care we must all belong to, or better yet have them integrated.

Mrs.Obama went to the Dept of Education and told them about how she was a product of their work. Her kids are a product of very very private and very very expensive private schools. The Federal Government should not be in the business of making sure that local schools are funded or that local parents are involved - that is your job, and mine.

It seems as though it is the adults who need to be schooled, unless you really think the Federal Government knows better for you and yours.
