This is horrible! I've worked so hard all throughout high school and now I have to SETTLE for my third or fourth UC choices?!

This is such disturbing news. Like many other California students, my son has worked hard his entire life in school, activities, volunteering and athletics so that he could be considered "UC Material." Now, he is basically being told he could have slacked off his entire life and gone to a community college like the druggies are going to do from his high school, and then transfer to a UC after two years, if he is lucky to get all the classes he needs at a CC. This is outrageous!! Do not punish our honors students. They are our future leaders in this state! Increase car registrations! Heavily tax alchohol and cigarettes, increase speeding and reckelss driving tickets......... but please, for the sake of our proud seniors, do not force them to take a detour with their college education. Please!!!

California should take a page out of Pennsylvania's book and "sell" rights to off-shore drilling! That would also aid in keeping reasonable prices on energy.

Very disturbing to know that the UC schools will be hurting due to budget cuts and this might affect my son's school choice and his future if he attends one of the UC schools that he might attend for fall of 2009.

Why can't our Governor put a heavy tax on liquor, cigarettes! He obviously does not care about the future of our children!

Obviously not good news for my high school senior or my budget. The UCs offer an excellent education at an affordable price. My older daughter attends UC Irvine and I have been very impressed with her education. Hopefully my senior in high school daughter will still have a chance at one of her top choices.
