homosexuality is a sin!

it is wrong, and this is a christian nation!

of 11:01AM December 19, 2008

I don't know if you are aware of this, but homosexuality is an unforgivable sin and it's just not right. So, everyone that says this is right and christian what the flip are you thinking? I'm from West-by-God-Virginia YIPEE KIYA MOTHER TRUCKER!

homeBiscuitsAndGravy, just the sort of retort one would expect from an uneducated liberal from CA. Honestly, does calling me white trash make you feel better? I don't mean to assume you are uneducated simply because you are from CA. But with a post like that, what choice do I have? I can be called "white trash" and you remain tolerant; however, I cannot use the term gay or queer and remain within the bounds of propriety? Help me out homeBiscuitsAndGravy.

Why would you take a bunch of gay kids who are bullied and don't fit in, and put them in a separate school. What's going to become of them when they have to leave school and interact in the adult world? This is such a load of crap.

Reno, just the sort of religious drivel one can expect from white trash from TX...

Admittedly, it has been a while since I have read the entire New Testament - thank you for the recommendation. I am not sure how you are able to make the connection between intolerance (not being nice to some middle school homosexual) and acquiescence to the gay agenda. Because I don't support something: a nation, purported to be Christian, allowing a vociferous faction to segregate itself while demanding unification; you can label me intolerant? Yes I know, you never said I was intolerant; but really, what else were you implying? As my fellow Christian so politely chided, a return to the New Testament would do us all a little good. Call me and let's talk about it.

A big mistake.

The educators, clergy, community leaders and organizations, and parents should focus their efforts on making all students, etc. tolerant and accepting of differences in sexual orientation.

It sets a very bad precedent to segregate gay and lesbian, trans-gender, etc. students. Students from a gay friendly school would become labelled as such and still subject to harrassment by intolerant students and others.

Schools should include programs for all students to teach tolerance of students with different sexual orientation, just as is done for different religions, etc.

Students who harrass others, for whatever reason, should be required to attend a remedial program to teach tolerance,...or even punished or expelled.

Did I make myself clear?!

A straight, Eastern, liberal.

This is an argument I've heard many times on a number of issues. "We should all be treated equally. We shouldn't favor one group over another." Unfortunately, and obviously to anyone who leaves their homes, this is not reality. Openly gay people ARE ridiculed/teased/harassed more than their counterparts in other 'groups,' not just by other children, mind you, but by adults like yourself. Poor children from bad neighborhoods don't have access to the same education as their counterparts from higher-income families. Black people are still overlooked for jobs. Women too. It's a step in the right direction to recognize the inequality and work to correct it. If Alliance School proves effective in opening minds and educating children in a safe environment, maybe other charter schools will follow suit. Maybe eventually all public schools in Milwaukee can work on the same principle of acceptance. Maybe eventually all schools. But you got to start somewhere.

I don't think that they should have these "gay" high schools. It shelters them from the real world, and would seemingly provide a safe environment for them when in reality that isn't how the world works. Some people take time out of their lives to berate homosexuals. Sad but true. Unless these schools teach them that the world isn't going to love them like their school does and how to deal with the haters, I don't think they should be there.

I'm a Christian who does not "hate" gays. But I do find myself ashamed of some of my fellow Christians like RENO above who thinks that being friendly to all people in a middle school is "acquiescing to a gay agenda". Good grief, RENO. Read your new testament.
