If a child molester, or a prostitute, or a drug user, or a bank robber, or an embezzler is caught and goes to jail, his children are separated from him also. There should be special treatment for certain categories of law breakers, such as illegal aliens, just because there is so much corruption in this area?

Just because someone has brown skin instead of white doesn't mean he should have a license to break the law.

When I was in college I used to read so much. now I feel like I spend my whole mind trying to be productive, but miss that stimulation that I would get. anyone have any tips for how to incorporate more intellectual activity into your life?

Is there a point at $4 or $5 or $6 or $7 per gallon fuels that we ask ourselves how we can reduce the car mileage and bus mileage now used for bringing students together in school buildings as often as we do?

This may be a "pressing school issues" News Roundup, but doesn't include a thing about what was taught, how it was taught, or what (if anything) was learned anywhere by anyone. You know, "education".

I'm not just trying to be flippant or make fun of serious things (and all three of the issues above ARE important), but do you ever wonder whether government bureaucrats or school adminstrators have even ONE MINUTE a day to think about supporting the morale of the front-tine teachers? After all, attendance issues, security and financing always DO TRUMP EVERYTHING---AND ALL THE TIME---don't they?

For "outside the box" musing, wouldn't it be cool if we could find ways to teach kids things without having as much constant physical custody of the kids as schools now have? TV, movies, advertisers, the stores, the Internet, i-pods, video games and peers (via texting) ALREADY ARE "teaching" plenty, after all. A good question would be, is there any new model for putting academic (as well as cultural and commercial) knowledge into kids?
