How Medical Schools View Community College Credits

How does one assume that someone that took prereqs at a community college did so because the classes were "easier?"

I think this does a HUGE disservice to the diversity of students wanted in medical school and I sincerely hope this is just one viewpoint of someone who needs to reexamine their belief system. There are tons of reasons why students start out a community college, especially in this economic climate, not that have to do with trying to side step "hard" work.

Unfortunately this has been a reality for a long time, premeds are advised this is not the case by CC's who struggle to get more paying students. It's a shame it does not keep one out of medical school but limits the number of medical schools who may accept these students. DO schools are more accepting of CC courses than MD schools over all.

Have you ever considered that students who transfer to the 4-year campus but return to the Community College do so not because it's easier, but because they like the smaller classes with dedicated instructor's over a graduate lecturer at the larger campus? They also have more access to the instructor through in class discussion and posted office hours. Not every Community College Student chooses to attend because they can't meet the 4-year campus standards, we do have Phi Theta Kappa, and the research shows that transfer students do just as well if not better than students who start as freshmen at the 4-year campus.
