also doing my internship in pediatrics in Jamaica, and like the poster from South Africa, calls are 24+ hrs, a full day, night on call and then another full day. Admission on a good night are 8-10, on average 15-20 on a bad night can be over 30.

I rarely have time to eat once i get to the hospital, trying to make an effort to have snacks in my pocket to munch on, and definitely make an effort to eat before I get to the hospital.

Definitely can identify with Katie's sentiments, not sure if i'd choose medicine again.

I'm a medical intern in South Africa. We work 30

Hour shifts when we are on call, usually without any break

Or a place to sit. I find myself regretting my career choice a lot lately, even though internship is only two years long.

I am a freshmen in college who has been considering a profession in medicine since the 8th grade. I loved how informative this article was.
