3 Reasons to Include a Medical School Application Addendum

I'm wondering if I should include an addendum to explain my freshman year grades. Here's the situation. I got a 3.44 cumulative GPA and a 3.17 BCMP GPA my freshman year but have since improved my overall cumulative gpa to 3.65 and my BCMP to 3.55. While my freshman grades weren't terrible, they are well below my ability and my sophomore and junior grades. I didn't have a family tragedy, I just didn't realize that you had to study in college because I was immature and had always been smart enough to do well without any effort in highschool. I came to college and did fairly well considering I barely studied. Upon entering my sophomore year I started organic chem and really learned how to study since I was forced to and since then have been an entirely different student. Sophomore year GPA was a 3.71 and BCMP GPA of 3.66 and my Junior year my GPA was 3.76 and BCMP GPA of 3.89. So should I submit an addendum to explain this (or at least call attention to the improvement)? Thanks in advance for any advice.
