We are entering a new and exciting space for educational reform by truly adapting cultural practices that support and enhance the learning capabilities of young urban youth who embrace the Hip Hop culture as a conduit to the rest of their lives. Being able to provide the necessary analysis of this shift and its varied practices is what the Hip Hop Education Center at NYU Stienhardt Metro Center seeks to advocate.

We as a nation must embrace not just our ethnic diversities but our creative and cultural practices which we employ for use in our daily lives. Hip Hop has a transnational affect that has cross all kinds of ideology and nationalities, this is unlike any cultural shift since the 60s yet it is far more influential and progressive so this is why we must consider all the positive facets of the culture and begin integrating them into an educational experience that lifts the imagination of an already waning body of students that feel alienated.
