i think if teachers are allowed to have their phones in classes, then they should'nt take the student's phones whenever they are on them either

I would rather use a phone then a computer but if the teacher knew my number it would be kinda weird? But that's just my opinion;)

my 8th / 9th period intro to trigonometry class believes that they should be able to use cell phones in their class because. . .

1. interested in learning new topics

2. can use tools on phone for quick and easy access

3. you can whip it out at a moments notice for any math problem.

the world is changing and we should change with it. every time we turn around someone is coming out with a new technology to better our way of living. cell phones are a way for students to learn better. they offer apps that help students understand the lesson better. pretty soon no on ewill use paper any longer to print out homework, instead they'll instant meassage their students using their cell phones. if teachers use cell phones more to go along with their lesson plan and stop using paper we would be saving alot more trees.

I really don't know how people can think this is a good idea. As a student going into secondary education, and having been around a family of educators my whole life, I do not understand why cell phones should be used in a classroom in this sense. First of all, how can the students focus on what they are supposed to be doing? How do the teachers know that they aren't texting the whole time?

Also, personally, the idea of a teacher sending me a text about when my homework was due is slightly creepy.... and it does not teach responsibility at all. That's what school really needs to teach these students - responsibility. Students are responsible for their work and knowing when it is due on their own, without a teacher sending them a text message to remind them.

I think using cell phones in the classroom would be very helpful for the students since technology is changing. This will help them by having the cell phones on hand when answer questions, doing research, and I like how the teacher would send text messages so they knew what was due and the homework assignments. Good Idea. I wish I had cell phones in the classroom when I was school.

During science labs, students can use their cell phones to record data (especially video or still images) for immediate analysis and for review/modification of hypotheses during subsequent iterations of their experiments.
