Parents should know what they kids are doing online. As you want to see the friends your child are going bring home you must know who are the guys he/she are chatting with online.
There are great tools out there nowadays. One of them, given for free, is unitedparents.com . Install it together with your child and show him what it does and how it does NOT invade his/her privacy. Your child will like it more than you may imagine.
