Officials at two schools to date have told U.S. News that they made errors reporting some of their data that was used in the newly published, 2013 edition of the Best Graduate Schools rankings.

Law: University of St. Thomas School of Law in Minneapolis advised U.S. News that it overreported the number and proportion of its 2010 graduates who had jobs at graduation.

Education: University of Houston advised U.S. News that it overreported the amount of research expenditures the education school had received during fiscal year 2011.

Inaccuracies, both intentional and unintentional, abound in these rankings. For example, the ranking have repeatedly rated a Master of Public Policy program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where no such M.P.P. program is now or has ever been offered.

It's a shame that so many rely on these rankings yet their accuracy on all sides is questionable.

The simple solution would be for an auditing firm to come and audit all the results they report to USNEWS. Instead, everyone turns a blind eye to the lying and cheating that is going on. Law is one of the most unethical professions in the US. The worst part is that it TRIES to pretend to be ethical. Hides behind the statement that " lawyers hold ethics to the highest standards"
