Looking at Stats of the Best High Schools for Math and Science Rankings
Tweet Share on Facebook September 29, 2011 Comment (4)U.S.News & World Report just released its first-ever rankings of the Best High Schools for Math and Science in the United States.
In order to do the rankings, we first looked at the nearly 600 schools that qualified for the Gold, Silver, and Honorable Mention lists on the current U.S. News Best High Schools, published in December 2009. For those schools, we then evaluated the 2008 graduates' participation rates and performance on AP® exams in math and science.

What Is Happening at the 2011 NACAC Convention
Tweet Share on Facebook September 22, 2011 Comment (1)A lot is happening already at the National Association for College Admission Counseling's (NACAC) 2011 annual conference in New Orleans. I am in the process of exploring the exhibit hall, located in the New Orleans Convention Center, where companies such as the College Board and Princeton Review have booths to promote their products and services. Please stop by the U.S. News booth, number 740, sometime during your time at the conference to chat and check out our latest products. We are interested in talking to people to get their feedback and suggestions on what we are doing right and where we could improve.
For those interested in finding out about what is happening at U.S. News as well as being part of a discussion on the Best Colleges rankings, U.S. News will be participating in two educational sessions on Friday, September 23

ABA Falls Short in Efforts to Improve Law School Placement Data
Tweet Share on Facebook September 1, 2011 Comment (4)The American Bar Association's initial efforts to collect and then eventually publish more robust data on post J.D. employment and job placement data are falling far short in some cases. That conclusion is based on an examination of the American Bar Association 2011 Annual Questionnaire's new questions on employment and salaries, which is the required survey that ABA accredited law schools have to fill out each year. The data that the ABA is currently collecting is for the J.D. graduating class of 2010. These new questions are the ABA's first effort to significantly improve the accuracy, transparency, and usefulness of law placement data.
