What possible reason would we want to give the federal government any kind of oversight in any new arena, when the do so poorly everywhere else?

Do we want a No Child Left Behind act for our Universities?

It would be far better for U.S. News or another organization (Consumer Reports, for example) to simply modify their criteria.

If the federal government creates a system, administrators will game that also, except it will create another massive federal bureaucracy. That is the last thing Universities need.
