Why were private schools not considered? I attended Andover (Phillips Academy) and now attend the University of Virginia with many TJ alumni. I think Andover definitely competes with, if not exceeds, TJ's qualifications. I would love to see the results if all qualified schools competed.

So sad that you ignored the most critical factor -- that is how well kids do *after* high school, since high school is to prepare them for what's next.

You talk about "college readiness" and use the ridiculous measure that Newsweek uses - AP tests. Instead, you should measure college readiness by asking colleges how well the kids from the various high schools actually do in college.

So, one-third of your methodology is an input (AP) and you ignore the output (actual college preparation).

Hence, administrators who force all kids to take AP classes result in standings higher on your list...yet when those school are compared by actual college performance, they don't stack up! Local newspaper do a much better job at this step.
