You all sicken me to my core. Lazy Americans who don't save or even try. Good for us lets complain a little more and feel bad for ourselves.

The U.S. higher education system in an embarrassment. One of the reasons that overseas study is so attractive to American students is because overseas universities actually offer an education for a reasonable price rather than running a highly profitable marketing machine with exorbitant salaries for admin. like so many schools in the United States. You can get a bachelor's degree from a highly respected university in Europe for 1/10th the cost of a mediocre university education in the U.S. You can get a master's degree from the London School of coEconomics or a law degree from the University of Ghent for a fraction of the cost of a degree from a school in the states--even with the exchange rate and a much higher rate for foreign students. The problem is, you have to pay that meager fraction out of your own pocket because there is no way to get funding for it. This puts students who have capital way ahead of students who rely entirely on loans and grants. The federal student aid system isn't set up to give American students a great education, it is set up to funnel money into universities that increasingly act like corporations at huge peril to an emerging American generation. I work in a highly competitive international sector and there are very few Americans in it. All of the Germans, Belgians, British, and French I work with are primarily from middle class backgrounds and some are even working class. The few other Americans I know, including myself, are from extremely privileged backgrounds. Expensive private schools, language study, and at least one degree from a European University are the norm. The inequity I see is extremely disturbing to me, especially when I discuss higher education with non-Americans. To see the opportunities they have for education and to compare them with the United States makes me really pessimistic about the US's chances of being competitive in the future.

I have received a promise that I will get acceptance from a Dentist School in Egypt. I am with very low income and I could not afford to pay the tuition. Can I receive FAFSA to study in Egypt. I already applied for FAFSA and I got acceptance from a University in USA.

College Cash 101

Kim Clark, senior writer for U.S. News & World Report, used loans, scholarships, grants, fellowships, savings, earnings, and generous contributions from her family (thanks, Mom, Dad, Grandpa and Grandma!) to fund study at four different universities. She even managed to graduate from two of them. She’s been researching and writing about the best ways to raise college cash for five years.
