Beyond " Can I get in?" is "Can I afford it if I get in?"

This is a well-founded piece on the realities of what it means to seek and attract financial aid, especially in the admissions-competitive and high tuition environment our students find themselves in today.

Families need to stay informed about what options are available in light of economic realties at home and in the college financial aid offices. As a college consultant, I find it necessary to remind families that in no way is it worthwhile to over extend themselves financially when it comes to affording a college education for their child.

When we speak of a student's social and academic fit with a school, financial fit is just as important. For a list of financial aid sites, visit my website www.AchieveCoach.com and follow the Resources and Tips page.
