Your New Home for M.B.A. Admissions Advice

January 14, 2011 RSS Feed Print

Are you considering going back to school for an M.B.A., and feeling overwhelmed by the program options, requirements, and expense this career-boosting decision implies? Well, I hope this new blog can help with that. I'm Stacy Blackman, president of Los Angeles-based Stacy Blackman Consulting, and a specialist on the M.B.A. application process since 2001.

I earned my M.B.A. from Kellogg Graduate School of Management and a Bachelor of Science from the Wharton School. My post-M.B.A. work in marketing led me to identify many similarities between traditional marketing and admissions strategy, which I leveraged to develop a highly effective approach for marketing my clients to top M.B.A. programs.

[Get more advice from business school admissions officials.]

Like the blog on my company website, this space will focus on news and trends coming out of the b-school universe, admissions tips, important reminders for applicants, and general help for future M.B.A.'s wading through the information overload and minefield of misconceptions surrounding business school.

So, what's in store for management education in 2011?

Ripple effects of the global economic meltdown can still be felt, and I suspect the coming year will usher in even more curriculum changes and program restructuring at top-tier schools. The GMAT exam is set for a makeover in 2012 with a groundbreaking Integrated Reasoning section, and the GRE General Test has steadily broadened its penetration as an alternative b-school entrance exam. Developments such as these directly affect future students, and may ultimately guide your decision on which program provides the best fit for you and your personal and professional goals.

[Learn about how upcoming changes in the GMAT could affect you.]

If you're planning your M.B.A. application strategy and want to stay current on breaking news coming out of business schools here and abroad, I hope you'll check back in with my blog each Friday. Until then, congratulations on making one of the most important decisions of your career...may this resource serve you well throughout the process.
