Along with state math and science assessments, South Dakota high school students must take a writing test through the WriteToLearn program. Seniors in South Dakota are encouraged to complete a capstone experience through an internship or community service. South Dakota also hosts programs aimed at increasing the educational success of American Indian students, according to the South Dakota Department of Education.
