Rhode Island tests the reading, writing and math skills of high school students with the New England Common Assessment Program, according to the Rhode Island Department of Elementary & Secondary Education. Through the Regional Student Program Tuition Break, Rhode Island students may receive discounted tuition at out-of-state colleges within New England.
There are 10 Rhode Island schools in the U.S. News Best High Schools 2013 rankings, including one gold medal school, four silver medal schools and five bronze medal schools. The gold medal goes to Classical High School, in the Providence Public School District.
