North Dakota boasts one of the highest high school graduation rates in the country and assesses students in reading and language arts, math and science. The state has academic support programs for American Indian students and a program that helps students in rural schools via competitive grants, according to the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction.
There are 29 North Dakota schools that were included in the 2014 U.S. News Best High Schools rankings and all received bronze medals. One bronze medal school in the state is Beach High School, located roughly 160 miles west of the state capital of Bismarck.
