North Dakota boasts one of the highest high school graduation rates in the country and assesses students in reading and language arts, math and science. The state has academic support programs for American Indian students and a program that helps students in rural schools via competitive grants, according to the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction.
There are 30 North Dakota schools that were included in the 2013 U.S. News Best High Schools rankings, including 29 that received bronze medals. The one silver medal school in the state is North High School in Fargo School District No. 1, which is roughly 190 miles east of the state capital of Bismark.
