Georgia high school students must earn at least 23 credits in various subjects and pass the Georgia High School Writing Test to graduate. If students plan to attend a University System of Georgia institution, such as University of Georgia, or any other postsecondary school, two credits must be in a modern language or Latin, according to the Georgia Department of Education.
Of the Georgia schools ranked in 2013 for the U.S. News Best High Schools, 10 were awarded gold medals, 37 earned silver medals and 41 received bronze medals. The highly ranked Davidson Fine Arts is located in Augusta, within the Richmond County School District, about 150 miles from Atlanta.
