Florida is among the states with flexibility from No Child Left Behind, and it tests high school students via the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test. The FCAT exam covers reading, writing, and mathematics. More information is available at the Florida Department of Education.
There are many Florida schools ranked among the U.S. News Best High Schools in 2013, including 31 with gold medals, 58 with silver medals and 30 with bronze medals. One of Florida's top-ranked secondary schools is the Design and Architecture Senior High School, which is located in Miami and part of the Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
