How to Go to Medical School for Free

For those of you that don't yet have a Bachelor's Degree, you could also:

A) enlist in the active duty military,

B) serve 2-4 years and take as many college classes as you can while enlisted,

C) stay alive, and

D) get an honorable discharge.

This would make you eligible for free college classes during your enlistment and the G.I. Bill and state veterans' benefits after discharge. State veterans' benefits can vary widely from state to state with Connecticut, New York, and Texas being the most generous in terms of education.

The last time I checked, Connecticut and New York offered tuition waivers for about 3 years at certain limited post-secondary schools, while Texas offered tuition waivers for "150 semester hours", at any public post-secondary school in the state (see Hazlewood Act). Texas has 8 or 9 public medical schools, and yes, "150 semester hours" covers ALL 4 YEARS.

These benefits may only be drawn after your G.I. Bill expires or is exhausted. The residency requirements for each state vary as well, so look into it WELL IN ADVANCE.

I hope this helps.
