M.B.A. Programs Focus on Project Management

The project management profession is an absorbtion of most managers that understand PM skills and sets. However, having a PMP or some other designation toward project management is okay though probably not the skills a graduate student would have in project management. Therefore, as understood the PMI is changing some values around to be aligned with other type of designations of education requirements to waive aspects of current requirements. I could say, a good category of professionals could go to waste if ..... and ------- while some may say, "that project does not need a PM constantly."

It was not covered at all, but some universities are offering entire undergraduates in project management. It may be worthwhile for PMI to consider these degree holders as CAPM's, if not full PMI's, the education far exceeds the CAPM requirement, but goes almost nowhere towards the PMP exam.

This line is a little misleading I think:

"Numerous other schools have implemented project management programs with a goal of preparing some students to become project management professionals after they pass a PMI-administered exam."

Is this a PMP exam course they are referring to? I ask because to become a PMP, you need thousands of hours of on-the-job experience that an education or degree in project management does NOT count towards. So the only students eligible to take the PMP exam are those already in the field of project management and have been recording their hours in specific tasks.

PMI currently barely recognizes project management degrees, offering only a few dozen hours of an education to go towards an exam, when a student could spend hundreds to thousands of hours studying and learning project management processes. A single course maxed out the educational requirements PMI accepted, and a degree took almost a dozen project management courses emphasizing PMI practices.

I do have a B.S. in project management, and I feel this sector of graduates is currently ignored by PMI.
