Some schools are doing research in hopes of bolstering worker safety amid a nuclear mishap.

Researchers commend the steps that are being taken and claim they're essential as the field of nuclear energy continues to grow, especially in developing countries like India and China. "The nuclear industry is volatile," Xu, of Rensselaer, says. "We can't wait for [catastrophes] to happen and then [realize] we don't know what to do."

It is true that it is VERY important to learn all about Nuclear science when you are studying to be a nuclear engineer. However, the school must also embbed in the hearts and minds of its students core nuclear engineer values -- SAFETY first before SAVINGS. --- Capella Campomayor, New York.
