This is a good article about BYU Idaho. Congratulations on being ranked as the 12th college in the Western United States.

Thanks for the article. Fantastic information, especially in this economy! Wish I would have known this before my 4 kids went to college and have buried us in more debt. Also the Antioch College is good to know. I'll pass on this info.

Antioch College, in Ohio, has FREE tuition for the next few years! As Antioch tries to rebuild its program after closing for some time, the college is not charging accepted students. There is a charge for room and board, but it's possible to get a scholarship to cover those expenses as well.

Bloomberg Businessweek ranked BYU Provo's Undergraduate business program as #11 in the nation. #1 in accounting.

BOB of PA clearly doesn't know what he is talking about. I can't speak for the other schools, but the BYU schools are all extremely high quality. The article even states that BYU - Provo is ranked by Newsweek as National University. And the fact that school cost is low doesn't mean the institution is not investing in its mission. The LDS church heavily subsidizes the cost of attending school at BYU (even for non-members), and without such subsididies the costs would be much, much more expensive. Maybe BOB in PA and others like him need to think before making such hasty generalizations.

I attended a service academy. Its cost in tuition and fees would be negative. Its cost obligations after attending may be higher.

Lists like this "top ten least expensive Private Colleges" miss the mark. If there were a direct one to one relationship between the cost and the quality of instruction/curriculum then these insufferable lists might be worth something. Since there is no such relationship this all boils down to "emphasis". If cost is your number one criteria for a "good education" then by all means use this list. Of course, the other way to look at this list is that these are the ten private colleges who invest the least into their mission.

I told my kids I'd save for their college education- at BYU. Anywhere else, and they better get an academic scholarship, because we don't qualify for financial aid. ... and so my Math Major at BYU-I has a willing mom paying his tuition. Very high quality education at community college prices.... SWEET!
