Scholarships and grants are an excellent source of money to pay for college. However, most people don't have the time or energy to do exhaustive scholarship searches. And even if they have the time, there is so much information out there that it can be totally overwhelming! I spent my son's entire senior year searching for scholarships, and yes, it paid off! As a result of all my hard work and the experience I gained, I founded Scholar Dollars, and we provide personalized scholarship searches for students. We focus on finding more obscure and local and regional scholarships that are not well known and harder to find, which means that our clients have a better chance of winning! You can find more information at www (dot) Scholar-Dollars (dot) com. Of course, the ultimate result and money won depends on the student's motivation, determination, and commitment. You certainly won’t win any scholarships if you don’t apply for them. But the money is definitely there if you are willing to work for it!

Students often make errors filling our their FAFSA Forms and don't end up with as much aid as they could. This site provides some great tips and secrets about investments and cash: http://www.fafsaonline.com/financial-aid-secrets.php

Yes there are many sources of help to pay for college tuition.
College tuition increases will continue as the economy continues to falter. Most people believe that a good college education will be the answer to their prayers and many institutions capitalize on this. Cost do rise as we all know, but the cost of an education seems to rise more quickly than other expenses. Every parent wants to see their child graduate college and certainly does not want to be responsible for their failure to get a degree because of money. Thank God the government provides us with some help and has such great future expectations.
Finding free college scholarships and grants for high school students is not a simple task, however, thanks to some government programs available and with the help of the college or university that you expect to attend, there are some free college scholarships and grants available if you know where and how to research these programs.
That being said, there are other alternatives to finance college tuition in scholarships, grants and awards that should be reviewed to see what you may qualify for. One source that I found helpful is located here.
What is missing in the discussion of financial aid is the fact that the FAFSA is not the only form required by colleges. While all colleges receiving federal and state financial aid funds must require the FAFSA, many colleges also require the College Board's CSS Profile form. This form is used by colleges to determine eligibility for institutional need-based aid and scholarships.
The Profile allows colleges to submit institution specific questions. With this data schools can utilize more restrictive policies for awarding their own funds. Unlike the FAFSA, the Profile does collect data on a family's equity in the primary residence and value of retirement assets.
In my college planning practice, I find that many families are unaware of the Profile and how it differs from the FAFSA.

As a update to my previous and reply to "Are you kidding.":
Yes, I do state 20K as affordable for my school. As an only child, living in NJ, with a parent's combined income of 125K, it is more than affordable for me. And I graduated with a good degree, and just started an entry level position making 55K. So yes, it is affordable. In 2 years I will make back what I spent for 4 years at college. People need to realize that these expensive schools are graduating students with >80% job placement and/or graduate school with high starting salaries. Students that are going to high paying schools are expecting to get a good education and a high paying career.
