Studying overseas is a grand time for a student who is independent. I did it, and it changed my life forever (in a very positive way!). The disciplines are different, so you get a very different look at the course information. And every day each time you go shopping or travel on the train or notice a castle as you drive by, you learn about history, cultures, art and people in a way it would never happen at home.
A lot of folks here don't realize that tuition in some countries is very inexpensive. Most of the cost they mention here is for room and board, which you would pay anywhere. I studied in Europe, and generally, the paperwork is not that bad. It's tougher if you want to stay and work - but students have it easy. Homesick? When you have such an opportunity, why would anyone be homesick? You can go home soon enough to stay, so enjoy while you are out in the world.
It's a time you always remember, and a network of friends in every corner of the planet. Fun!!!
