Academic match is not the end of the story, however. Several colleges may be a good match academically for a student, but which college is the best "fit"?
The same 2008 report found that students are more likely to persist in college and graduate successfully if, in addition to academic match, they have also considered other factors to determine overall fit. These factors include: financial viability, majors and programs offered, support services, social/emotional fit, and the college's persistence and graduation rates.
As we begin another academic year, let's help our students find the right match and fit. Let's find them schools that will serve them well. Whether it is a credential, vocational school, community college, or university, it is about honoring the investment and honoring our future. It's about success.
