[Follow these tips to succeed in college as a veteran.]

Student clubs can provide vets with academic resources and guidance. Fullerton has a Student Veterans Association, and students at Michigan can speak with other student vets through the Peer Advisors for Veteran Education program. Next spring, A&T will start Aggie Veteran Students of America to give veterans and their dependents support while they complete a degree.

A number of other colleges across the country have similar organizations, but a school's veterans affairs office can also be a starting point for veterans with questions about their academic future.

"We will help give them the guidance and connect them with the resources they need," says Jones.
