6. Make the most of college: Whether you're in your second semester or your seventh, there's still time to get involved at school. See if your college is hosting a spring semester student organization showcase, as do many institutions, such as Pittsburgh's Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Connecticut. Eager students of all ages may find their niche at fairs like these, says Kristen Carr, coordinator of student organization support at UConn—whether they're a relative newbie still adjusting to college or a seasoned student looking for a new opportunity.
"Our organizations are looking for anybody and everybody that has an interest and wants to get involved," she says. "It's definitely never too late."
