Salt Lake City is in the bottom of the list but I think it's the best choice of the 5. I've been reading a lot about Utah and have learned that the University of Utah's ski team trains at Little Baldy Peak - one of the six mountains of Dear Valley ski resort:http://www.utah.com/ski/resorts/deer_valley.htm which I think is perfect.
Deer Valley is considered as the best ski in North America:http://www.mountainyahoos.com/SkiResorts/DeerValley.html that's why for those college students who want to pursue skiing, Salt Lake city is the place to stay

Middlebury College should be on the list. They have their own nordic and alpine ski areas and are located near Killington, Mad River Glen, and Sugarbush Resorts.
