Take a College Road Trip to Michigan

We toured some of the Great Lake State's top schools and found out what it's like to attend them.

Though Michigan students see signs of the nation's recent economic downturn in deteriorating roadways and long-shuttered shops, they express significant pride in both their state and their colleges. U.S. News visited five campuses ranging from Kalamazoo College, with under 1,400 students, to the mammoth Michigan State University, with more than 47,000.

Though academic and extracurricular opportunities on these campuses vary widely, the love of spring is universal in a region famous for its long, snow-laden winters.
