Employers want 2 years of full time relevant experience. These will not work. The whole system needs to be changed.

RepNation probably isn't a good place to start looking for brand associations, the site hasn't been updated in about 8 months... at one point it was good, but now just an abandon'd site.

The position of Resident Assistant or RA is probably one of if not the most sought after on-campus job. Not only does it offer many benefits for the here and now (which vary from school to school) such as free room and board and possibly a stipend, but it will also look very good on your resume, no matter what career you're looking at. This job challenges you in customer service/professionalism, team-building, marketing, time management, conflict resolution, and much more.

This is a good list, but could be better if we could add resident advisor position on the list. RAs receive a lot of training and spend a lot of time working with people, problem solving, working as a team, ethics, good decision making, big time communication in different shapes and forms. Many of the skills from RA experiences are listed as important by the College Board and in general by employers to be successful team players at the work place.

None of these jobs are well paying and most involve heavy start up cost. Also- many campus tour guides are usually volunteer positions. I was looking for some insightful ideas to help pay for school and found only the same old information.

Look at your college's career services, many maintain a job database.

I have interviewed students at Arizona State University and the University of Arizona who pulled in more than enough money to pay all expenses including tuition by moonlighting as a social contractor (ie... escorts). They appeared totally satisfied about working on the side while advancing their full time student status toward degree and career success! I have also interviewed a professor of business at a very well known historic college in a southern state who informed me that he worked as a male hooker and stripper through undergrad and graduate school up to the beginning of his doctorial program. He said he earned enough money to invest and purchase property and a lifestyle commensurate with his life goals and ambitions. Few know about his past as an entrepreneur on the soft couch of erotic industries.

A few people have already mentioned this - but this is a hugely important job on a college campus that provides students with a ton of transferable skills: basic professionalism, document writing, event planning, confrontation skills, working on a team, handling confidential material, responding to crisis, working with diversity (both with your team and the residents you work with), advertising, and a bunch more. A Resident Assistant can also boast that they have extensive training in a variety of different areas when they are interviewing for jobs.

Literally, no matter what job you have after undergrad, work as a Resident Assistant can make you better suited for the job. Whatever your next job is, there's something about being a Resident Assistant that you can play up and focus on in an interview.

Also, working as a Resident Assistant will often cut huge costs off our your college experience - with many schools covering room and board.
