I can't believe no one put a military job in here being a soldier looks fantastic on any resume you are like almost guaranteed a job if you were in the armed forces at some point in your life seriously. That should have been number one. They pay pretty good too it's just rough what you go through.

Another important missed one is research assistant in your field of study, also much more benificial than waiter or waitress, and I agree with RA as well.

Those are awesome ideas, especially with colleges giving most campus jobs to students with work-study. Check out these other ideas: http://bit.ly/ooX7Um

I thought this article showcased some excellent ways that college-friendly jobs can pay and offer experience. One commenter pointed out that there can be stringent requirements for on-campus jobs and that is correct. Joining an organization within campus doesn't pay money, but can breed "experience." Similarly, I recently blogged about how students can "spin" work in their college classes for their resume (also not paying, but you're already there, so might as well get the grade... and benefit from retooling the work as experience). Given that verbal communication skills are the #1 sought after employability skill, according to the National Association for Colleges and Employers (January report, 2011), in-class presentations, projects, group tasks, etc. can also bring out resume/interview-worthy material. I'd like to point out that on many campuses, getting work at your school means you have to be qualified for financial aid.

life guarding is a very good job for college students. i have been a lifeguard for over three years while in college and the scheduling is very flexible and the jobs is pretty easy and the same with swim instructors as well.
