There will be more jobs if the firms agreed to a salary correction -- They could hire two associates at a starting salary of $65,000 or one at a starting salary of $130K.

"self entitled young folks getting a dose of reality."

Easy enough to get some smug satisfaction typing that. Feel better? Do you have any knowledge of the situation whatsoever?

"We need more engineers and Drs.wake up."

Certainly doesn't help the current crop of law students. And of course as soon as you run afoul of the law, or need any legal guidance you'll be running to find the nearest competent lawyer.

"You're not smart enough and capable enough to handle your own decisions"

It's hard to pin the blame solely on the students who were relying on grossly inflated job numbers and salary statistics when they signed up for the law school deal. Who's going to hold the law schools accountable?

A bit of tuition relief would be nice. No gripes about the market, that is life - adapt. What you are seeing are self entitled young folks getting a dose of reality.

Chase ambulances. That is what you are best at.

Benjamin Franklin supposedly entered a dry goods

store and saw a bunch of lawyers with their feet propped up around the old stove.

He reportedly said"just like in hell, lawyers closest to the fire.

We need more engineers and Drs.wake up.

Grow up you pansy! You're supposed to be a lawyer. You're not smart enough and capable enough to handle your own decisions, than you're not smart enough to represent a flea. You're a disgrace to the legal community.

We got no warning whatsoever. Nothing but a big thumbs up from the school all the way, along with the usual talks about how much we will be making and how great our careers will be. I just saw the Class of 2010 graduate with one 1/3 of them employed. Things are miserable out there and any talk of a turnaround is false. Maybe bringing back hiring from DEAD to ON LIFE SUPPORT, counts as a turnaround, but it doesn't help the vast majority of us. I can't decide whether to bite the bullet and finish or drop out now and run far, far away. I feel bad for the Class of 2010, but I don't want that to be me, either. All signs show that we will suffer the same fate.

-Top third, top 20 school, no offers, no responses from 184 resumes sent out (thus far).

The class of 2011 started in fall of 2008. At this point the economy was already pretty deep into the toilet. Did any law schools warn incoming students about the significantly decreased value of a law degree? Not likely. Law schools care about bringing in dollars to professors who produce very little of any real value, and don't give two shits about giving their graduates any meaningful opportunities or life skills.
