Re: "Young people are the first fired, last hired," adds Heidi Shierholz, an economist with the Economic Policy Institute. "It's not something that teens are doing wrong that created this situation. The rug of the labor market has been pulled out from under them."
All of the unprofessional things the younger folks do just needs to go, because now employers REALLY don't need teen or 20-something mentality around, when they can get better quality people.
No one cares how drunk you were over the weekend.
No one cares what you think of the new executive assistant (that isn't positive)
No one cares how you want a management job right now, even though you've got less overall work experience.
And lastly, quit harassing the "qualified" adults in the workplace, who are tired of unprofessional twirps walking around with their bra-straps showing, the thong undies hanging out the back of your already inappropriately low-rise jeans, and your arm full of tats that should be covered up, so as not to be distracting.
No wonder employers prefer more conservative candidates.
Perhaps now, SERVICE will finally be better (and more professional), instead of some bubble-gum popping, tattoo-riddled, nose-pierced weekend alcoholic.
This was long overdue, this shift to overlooking those with the least to offer the adults who buy goods and services.
