You are correct, outside of Federal Student loans, there are many private student loans, but these loans are based on credit. The only way to get a private student loan when you don't have good credit is to use a co-signer. Many of these programs are built with high FICO scores so that you are forced to get a co-signer. Private student loans are a high risk for the bank due to the fact there is no insurance behind the loan, no federal government,no collateral, just your credit report and promise to pay. SO they look for co-signers, usually a parent, because they are more established.

Go to Student Loan Analytics and you will find several private student loan lenders and start shopping.

Good luck!

So, what can be a solution for that student who can't get a loan due to credit problems. Seems as if that student will not be able to get the money to complete his/her studies. There are so many students in this stituation so what can be a solution a student in this situation?
