Which High School Students Are Most Likely to Graduate From College?

Im a Senior in high school and I have been accepted to 5 Universitys. I am motivated and get things done, what may keep me from going is the money issue. They should lower done prices so those of us who really want to get our education can. And the ones who don't will fail even if they attend.

well i think that community colleges have become a last resource for students who didn't get into a four-yr college. academically, those who gained acceptance for four-yr colleges are more prepared (grades, sat's, etc.) than those in community colleges.
I'm not speaking for all though. hence, the motivation factor plays a role, although there are varying reasons why people attend community college before transferring to a larger four-yr college. also, with four yr colleges being bigger in everything, they have the resources to help out students in terms of aid, loans, grants, counselling, study groups, peer groups and more that will help students adjust to the college life and succeed.

I truly understand how students want to save money through going to community colleges, because I have seen many talented students going to community colleges. I disagree with the system because during those years you are most likely to get unmotivated or discouraged by the peer that is less challenging. I was glad that this article mentioned that community college was not the most worthy thing to do in your crucial years of life. However, I really wanted to know the specific reasons or actual datas rather than general reason of "lack of motivating, challenging peers" or "complicated transfer process." However, other than that, I found this article truly helpful and very motivating.

I'm trying to compare the % of private high school students who graduate from college to the % of public high school students who graduate from college.
Do you have any studies on that?

Kim Clark missed referencing what studies were used to support the demeaning statements about community colleges. If one is going to put down an important source of education to those of economic need (quite a few of us these days), he or she needs to cite the studies insteading of quoting Bowen, "It is pretty hard to argue with the data...." What data? The testimonials in these comments show that individuals find a variety of worth in community colleges. Can all community colleges and all students who choose to attend community colleges be painted with the same brush? Kim Clark's snynopsis of Bowen's remarks about community college falls short on substance.

I think that the ones who want to make something out of themself are the only people who are going to graduate from college.Most people who just do drugs and don't care about their lifes are the one that are going to waste heir time and life up in jail getting arrested all the time and not beable to be nothing that they want to be.When most students graduate they just let their dreams fly away and they don't even care about their family and friends who really care about them going to school they just listen to their friends who don't really care about them because they make that person do drugs and throw their lifes away and that's not what a good friends do.My opinion is that the people that want to make something out of themselfs are giong to be the ones that are giong to graduate from college.

If the person (18 yr old or forty year old) has an interest and a motivation and is studying what makes sense to them in their life, they should do okay. But if they've never been interested in school, don't do the every day things such as attending class, doing their best, studying, and turning in required work, forget it. You can pretty much look at their H.S. grades, activities,and work history and get an idea of how they will do. Some people are not college material (this is not a put-down, just a fact), some people need to grow up first and pay for it themselves, some people need job-specific technical training. I'm tired of "studies" and "policies" that say everyone must get a 4 yr degree to be successful. We are not all the same round peg. I went to junior college for 2 years, knowing exactly what classes I needed to transfer and finished a 4 yr degree.
I hadf a goal and I went after it. It's honestly not that hard. And I always had at least 1 part-time job.

The most important key element you need in order to succeed is a “dream”. Now the reason why I phrased this word so (“”) is because a dream is a powerful goal. It refers what you want to do, along with answering questions such as (why?) or (how?). It truly is a personal goal (unlike passing a test), and that’s why so many people fail at it. Having a “dream” builds up character (it’s how you find yourself), which is literally important because so many people are “lost in life” and they don’t understand the true essence of collage (and life sadly). Collage is a beautiful experience that can change your life. You should definitely explore it and not worry about getting accepted into the best collage there is, yet instead putting forth maximum effort into getting into the college that is best suited for you.
