I think it's a great thing that self-defense classes are growing on college campuses. It makes a lot of sense; the campus where I am a student has been spiking in acts of violence against pedestrians. One of my close friends got pistol whipped in an alley by a complete stranger about half of a year ago (I'm not kidding, he's still bothered by it). My only question is how do we know that nbeaksawhimf the people taking these self-defense classes aren't the ones we need to take the classes to be safe from? Don't get me wrong, self-defense is a good thing, but we can only go so far fighting violence with violence...

Silly string is all well and good for fun. I personally carry a real pepper spray. I found this keychain pepper spray for only $10.00 at http://www.proselfdefenseproducts.com/macepeppersprays I would personally recommend it to anyone. I am in ill health and it gives me peace of mind when I am walking alone as I am scared of a viscious dog attack. I bought one for my little sister as she likes to walk a trail by our house. Rape can happen anywhere but especially out alone on a trail. For what it is worth I bought some peace of mind for a lousy ten dollars.
