That's really interesting! I have been trying to come up with different ways to battle my stress from work. Sometimes it's gets so stressful that my body just starts to ache from the lack of sleep. My friend suggested I either quit my job or go to someone like http://www.tm.org/transcendental-meditation-westchester-county for help. I have already been looking for a new job and have had a few interviews.

Excellent post. Yes, it certainly is debilitating and not to mention frustrating when anxiety takes a hold over one's life. You offer sound advice and an excellent definition of anxiety in general.
Test anxiety is a very real problem. It really depends on the test taker's ability to remain calm, cool and collected during the exam. Yes, preparation is certainly key, but it’s also been proven that testing anxiety will have a negative effect on the test taker's ability to achieve their highest possible score. I have not yet taken the bar exam but I've scored extremely well on the LSAT myself; 168 and 172 and recently graduated from law school.
My preparation included working with the company Test Prep New York (http://www.testprepny.com), in the New York City region, which sufficiently prepared me for the strenuous exam which included a holistic approach; solid testing materials and instruction, along with stress reducing techniques in order to increase my confidence and focus by reducing and gaining control over stress and anxiety.
I highly recommend Test Prep New York, which offers personalized study in the New York region as well as individualized self-study materials that may be ordered online and studied at home. Do yourself a great service and check out this company's innovative approach to test preparation and the alleviation of any and all testing anxiety which unfortunately many people suffer from during these strenuous exercises.
I'm going to include a link to your blog post on TPNY's blog. I subsequently landed a job with this incredible company and I'm always interested in networking with similar colleagues in the field.

Finally someone has developed a program that will teach students how to handle their anger! Breathing and focusing instead of fists and guns. Students are given strategies to manage their own anger without the aide of a "I caught you being good coupon" or character words posted on a pillar. This is a program that will last them a lifetime and will even assist in managing their blood pressure when they are old and grey. Thanks you, Carla. You are a genius!

I whole heartily agree with using Creative Strategies to help with Student Stress. As a grandparent and a Spiritual Formation Minister in Walden Chapel United Methodist church, Goodman, MS, I have witness much improvement in at least four students' behavior, self-confidence and grades- since they have been enrolled for a year in a private owned, Tiger-Bo Taekwondo Center class. This has been confirmed in numerous conversations with parents, Master Earnest Terry, owner, review of report cards, teachers at Goodman-Pickens Elementary school of the Holmes County Public School District, Lexington, MS, Rev. Martha Williams, church minister and others.
I was so excited when I read this article because I had been wondering how to work to help more children especially since I have seen the improvement in my own twelve year old grandson.

I have seen this program in action, and it is extremely effective! Thank you, Carla, for bringing peace and serenity to our school.

No wonder these children are so smart! :)

It is about time that people begin to be aware of the amount of stress that they have turned school into. It is kind of ironic actually.
All of the mandated testing caused all of the anxiety and stress and now they are going to "help" students deal with it.
What a hoot.
As a teacher in a inner city school I definitely need ways to manage the stress of all the mandates and guidelines besides the pharmacueticals that most of my fellow teachers are taking.
