Inflation Outpaces Most Tuition Hikes

I work in financial aid at a small private college. I see the struggles every day now particularly because parents don't have as many options as they once did - home equity lines have dried up, the private student loan industry is in a complete and total downward spiral and the basic cost of operations continue to trend upward.

It is discouraging and frustrating as a financial aid professional to see the disappointment in the faces of students and parents when they come to the realization that the college this student wants to attend is simply not affordable.

And for those who are able to attend, we are creating a nation of young debtors - strapped by the burden of student loans as soon as they set foot outside the boundaries of the campus.

It's good to finally hear some good news about the economy and paying for college in the media. Even though you say it might be a problem next year, I still appreciate any positive news.
