Honestly, I wouldn't go to Harvard in a million years. After the way the PC brigade ripped apart Larry Summers, and their weakness over the Israeli-Lobby paper, it is clear to me that the institution is about as intellectually adventurous as a dead goldfish. I think the only reason it still has clout is by momentum.

There are far more intellectually expanding universities to go to. Harvard is a just a name.

Well, I can say that I'm in a similar situation as you, however I've recently graduated from high school and will be attending Harvard University for my undergraduate studies this year. With that said, money shouldn't be an issue. I myself come from a low income first-generation family. When I was accepted, they gave me a financial aid package which was pretty much a full ride minus a few hours of work-study per week (which is nothing in my opinion). My family didn't have to pay a cent. The reason is that schools such as Harvard, Yale, and Princeton are so rich that they can afford to give generous financial aid packages to kids who are coming from families making less than $60,000 a year. The only problem is that you have to get in first. Now, if you are truly as smart as you say you are, then getting in shouldn't be a problem in the first place. =)

I am really proud to find out that Harvard University still tops America's best schools. I am an international student from Gabon (Africa), and i am currently attending Grayson county College in Sherman, Texas, a small community college, but good enough to get me started with my accademic journey.Seizing the opportunity of this article, i would like to expose the problem of poor but smart international students who after graduating from a community college, which actually sort of appear affordable at least for some, they are confronted with the high cost of studies in universities. Some are left with the no choice but break a year to seek for money, others just quit and seek for other ways to get their life somewhere with the many opportunities other than schooling, this country offers. It is really scary, to know that i am a good student, meaning i have the skill to even attend Harverd, Princeton, yale and many of these great institutions, but because i do not have money, at least the most of it, my future is jeopardized. Finally , i am left wondering if any poor student should in fact go to school at all. This is my personal fear. This is my case among many that i know of. Please what can i do? I will be graduating this semester from college and my dream is to show my intellectual talents in a school that could regognize them and make of me not only a number, but a name among many others.

Thank you .
