Perhaps these universities should consider Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs). Buildings built from SIPs are thermally efficient and consume 50% less energy than conventionally built structures. Buildings built from SIPs are typically three to five times stronger than conventional wood frame structures and can be built in about half the time.
If my children were in college, in Florida, facing a hurricane, I know I would feel much better if they were in a SIP built structure. Don't take my word for it, get on Goggle and search for SIP and storms, check it out. The data is there and it is compelling. Check out the SIP Association web site at www.sips.org and check out the durability of this amazing product. You can also visit my web site at: www.advancedgreenproducts.com

Not to deny the awkward reality of a temporary boom and the pressure on dorm resources, but SOMEDAY we ought to take a good look at a problem. Here it is:
There has never been one ounce of sense in double (shared) rooms in hospitals, prisons or colleges. Jamming people together dilutes the desired outcome all three places.
Dorm rooms ought to be VERY small, spartan and private. Same with the others. Who designed this bunk-with-a-stranger mentality anyway?
