Though Convention Humanized Romney, It Lacked Substance

Tampa an overall success, but if the GOP was looking for a winning message, it didn't build it

"...tell me what you're going to do right." (Robert OH). Did you honestly even try to listen Robert?

"Republicans are just too negative and misleading." (P.Avon NC)

I think this is both a negative and misleading statement, P. Avon of NC. But if your statement is categorically true, then you must be a Republican and I must not be.

Here's the message.... Obama, whose grandiosity, candelite vigils, grand rhetoric, and media bias got him elected to the highest office in America, has been a divisive recluse who has been mailing it in since his election. He has done little for our country during this fiscal crisis, except blame others. Why would anyone wi vote him in for a second term.... ?

America needs a real leader, someone who will take responsibility for the well being of our citizens and solve our nations economic problems. Someone who loves the idea of America and it's exceptionalism. Mitt Romney is that man.... His only flaw is humility....a true political weakness, Nonetheless, I will be voting for him in November.

D McGuire of CA 2:19PM August 31, 2012

As an average citizen I have no idea how Mitt could help me. Other then telling me what Obama is doing wrong tell me what your going to do right.

Robert of OH 1:55PM August 31, 2012

Meh. Eastwood and Ryan put some life into it, but Republicans are just too negative and misleading. And Ann Romney's, "I love women!" was cringe-worthy.

Philip Avon St. Cyr of NC 1:52PM August 31, 2012

Lacked substance? It had no substance at all: zero. And the "promises" didn't begin to make sense. Who believes "we" can achieve North American energy independence in 8 years, especially if we continue to ignore atomic, solar and wind energy?

Who believes a party who won't even consider raising tax rates on even the richest can balance the budget? Who believes a party who's only specific promise about education is to abolish the dept of Education and who has consistently slashed spending on public schools but who is willing to divert public school funds to private schools via vouchers is going to improve education? Who believes a party who's only actions on health care have been to vote to change Medicare to a voucher program and who has voted to slash funds for Medicaid while wanting to make it a grant program will do anything to improve our health care?

And, considering how many positions he has taken and abandoned, even reversed, can believe any promise: any promise at all made by Gov. Romney?

Lee Sterne of TX 1:52PM August 31, 2012

The very notion that the left is moaning about the Republican lack of "subtance" during the convention is laughable. The fact that the Democrats which control the Senate have failed to produce a budget in 3 years, which is REQUIRED BY LAW makes the accusation at the very "least" disingenuous.....at the very "most" it is business as usual for the misguided mainstream media.

Jim of TN 1:49PM August 31, 2012

all smoke ...no visions. Talking points about their mothers. But no real directions. Except they were clear that they would make a private painful choice illegal. QUestion: who will take care of all these children ( abortion ).

Nothing really about the men and women soldiers. No real mention about our Wars. I thought the overl affect was negitive. It is about planing and leading...I do think that the President should cont his direction.

>>>Though Convention Humanized Romney, It Lacked Substance - HA, thanks for the laugh.

The first thing that came to mind when I read your title for this article was Obama and how his 4 years as so-called president of the USA has LACKED SUBSTANCE!

Mitt was sincere, and succinct with the audience which I respected and appreciated.

A total contrast to the emotional rah rah of the Obama campaign which absolutely LACKS SUBSTANCE, starting with Joe Biden.

Luetta of CA 1:47PM August 31, 2012

The treatment of Ron Paul and his delegates was dreadful. First they produce a video about Ron Paul and leave out foreign policy issues, then they do a roll call and leave out the announcement of votes for Ron Paul, and unseat delegates. How childish and idiotic. Romney deserves to lose this election.

Dovy of CA 1:46PM August 31, 2012

For those who want detailed plans in one convention speech where were you when Obamacare was voted without being read or no comprehensive plan presented by the President to control the debt or add jobs in three years?
