Was the Democratic National Convention a Success for Barack Obama? >

The Convention Was a Disaster for Obama

The convention was a disaster for Obama, but the media aren't telling that story

September 7, 2012

What does DNC stand for, Disaster Natural Causes? It was nothing short of a disaster for President Barack Obama. If the Obama-friendly media covered the Democratic National Convention the way they covered the Republican National Convention, we would be hearing today that Obama was in free fall and rumors that top Democrats were meeting to find another candidate.

From start to finish, the DNC was a disaster. It started with all of the high profile Democrats who stayed away. Where was Hillary Clinton? Almost every Democrat with a contested race stayed away. Where was Sen. Claire McCaskill?

The Democrat self destruction was no more evident than on the second day, when after criticism from Republicans and other Americans, the DNC decided they needed to put both Jerusalem and God back into their platform. Both were booed. It took three ballots for the amendment putting Jerusalem and God back into the platform to be declared passed, and if you watch the video and listen to the audio, it is plainly obvious that two thirds of those present did not vote to put Jerusalem and God back in the platform.

Perhaps the funniest part of this slow motion train wreck was the Obama team trying to claim they moved the event indoors because of the threat of lightning. The Obama-compliant media tried to spin this with some of them even claiming there were thunderstorms going on in Charlotte, while conservatives were tweeting photos of the beautiful and clear Charlotte night.

It had to really get to Obama that he had to bring in former President Bill Clinton to rescue him. Where were the future Democrat stars? The RNC had more than they knew what to do with. Is the DNC really saying Sandra Fluke is the future of the party?

The real takeaway here is that we might have watched the last political convention in this nation. They are hugely expensive and Honey Boo Boo had better ratings.

Was this a disaster for Obama? It would have had to have been much better for it simply to be a disaster.
